Signature Illumination Designs worked with landscape partners Texas Garden Services and Matthew Murrey Design on this Highland Park home’s serene outdoor retreat. This multifaceted residential design gave Signature’s professional lighting experts a unique opportunity to put their experience and artistry to work using a variety of custom techniques across the property.
A creative selection of custom fixtures was chosen to 1) illuminate the lush, natural privacy landscaping surrounding the property and its enclosed swimming pool, 2) highlight the architectural details in the home’s façade, drawing eyes to the elegant interior and 3) establish a romantic glow for a secluded sitting area.
To illuminate the home’s landscape screening that surrounds the private swimming pool, our designers used a combination of uplights and recessed lighting to reinforce the sense of privacy and grandeur created by the mature plants.
Subtle shadowing contributes to the relaxing ambiance of the outdoor space, with recessed lighting adding architectural interest to the home’s façade and surrounding walkways.
Cored-in recessed lights in concrete highlight the curved architectural features of the home in a warm tone that matches the glow within. For Signature’s lighting designers, who are also highly skilled at sophisticated electrical installations, the combination of lighting for this home was a welcome opportunity to showcase their unique talents.
The variety of lighting used in this project includes uplights, downlights, recessed lights and step lights on the stairs leading up to the patio and by a back private garage area. Step lights add not only visual interest but also safety as guests and residents explore the outdoor spaces late into the cool fall evenings.
Uplights against the back corner of the property silhouette the trees and flowering plants, creating a cozy corner for two to sit quietly and share after-dinner conversations.
