The owners of this Celina, Texas home were looking to bring depth and unique design to their small, blank slate yard. Working with our partner Aquaterra Outdoors, we added a sophisticated and fun flair to this space, creating a one-of-a-kind style for the family.
Around the firepit, we installed customizable tape lighting that creates a high-end, modern look and casts a glow across the sitting area. In this space, we wanted to create unique pockets of things to do, using lighting to enhance the existing architecture and design to establish these areas of interest by the firepit, pool, and grill. This technique takes the focus off of the narrow space, creating an optical illusion of depth.
We added directional path lights along the walkway and edges of the sitting area that creates a fun, sophisticated look and compliment the patio stone and landscaping, enhancing the resort-like atmosphere.
Across the raised water wall at the center of the pool, we installed another line of customizable tape lighting that furthers the look of luxury and compliments the fire installations on either side. The tape lighting’s colorful glow covers the pool and, when the homeowner changes the light’s color, the pool water changes color with it.
Guests can follow the directional path lights to the other side of the pool, where an inset grill and bar area anchor the space. Along the edges and through the middle of the equinox structure, which can open to let in sunlight or close to provide rain cover, we installed downlights and a ceiling fan. The downlights keep the space light and bright for anyone preparing food and drinks for anyone who swims up to the bar. Around the countertops and steps, we added more tape lighting that continues the design motif throughout the entirety of the space.
To keep the edges of the yard lit, we added up-lights to illuminate the landscaping and keep the whole space warm and bright.
