The Main Event: A Tranquil Retreat

This Preston Hollow landscape lighting project has a rich, textured outdoor space which was transformed into a serene nighttime retreat.

One of the standout features of this project was the custom laser-cut address plaque, meticulously crafted by a local metal shop. It added a personalized touch to the property, setting the tone for what was to come.

We didn't stop there. We got creative with lighting, even illuminating the dry riverbed under the bridge with tape lighting for a soft and welcoming effect.

Similarly, we applied tape lighting to the perimeter of the bocce court in the backyard - discreetly concealing the installation under the edge of the Ipe frame turning it into a favorite spot to gather at night.

Perhaps the most challenging aspect was lighting the putting green. Coordinating conduit installation with the laying of the base and ensuring the sleeves for post lights were in place before the turf installation day required precise planning and execution. #teamwork.

Nighttime Nostalgia

As 2023 comes to an end, enjoy our final case study of the year, we may have saved the best for last!

For this project’s design elements of note, our focus was on creating a captivating ambience while replicating nature’s own light. We accomplished this by using cool white downlights to illuminate the landscape which mimics a moonlit night, while warm uplights were used to bring attention to the delicate details and colors on smaller ornamental trees.

Additionally, this front yard unveils a showstopper—a copper sculpture doubling as a water feature, cascading water through its branches. A peaceful nook for moments of reflection.

Venture through the side gate, and you'll find yourself in our Firefly Alley—a year-round homage to Texas firefly seasons. Mini lights on copper tubes create a whimsical look, accompanied by lighting for the gentle brook along the walkway. This touch of charm and nostalgia allows the homeowners and guests to experience the magic of summer all year round.

Here's the icing on this multi-layered cake—our crews, all led by licensed electricians, handled it all. From sump pumps to water features, even reinstalling outlets for the arbor, we kept subcontractors to a minimum, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.

Modern Marvel – Elevated Elegance

We're excited to share a recent design build project with you - for this contemporary house where every element matters our approach was to elevate the home’s features while maintaining an understated elegance.

Subtle Pathway Brilliance: Welcomed guests approach this home on long pavers, discreetly illuminated by low-profile pathway lights. This unobtrusive lighting solution made the pathway shine without stealing the show.

Steps that Glow: LED tape lighting was tucked under the steps, ensuring safety without compromising the sleek aesthetic.
Moonlit Magic: Ornamental trees were gracefully uplit, and captivating pockets of moonlight were created via the mature trees on each side of the front yard.

Vertical Ambiance: Along the fence line, ornamental trees stand tall with vertical uplighting, enhancing the depth of the spacious yard.
String-Lit Serenity: LED string lights above the seating area cast a warm glow, making it the perfect spot for relaxation.

Arbor Oasis: The arbor adjacent to the pool became a tranquil oasis with recessed LED lights for the seating area and fire pit while tape lighting adds depth to the slatted feature wall.
Destination Relaxation: A secondary seating area with a fire feature was designed for relaxing evenings. Tape lighting under the stone and stairs leading to the residence illuminated the space.

A Traditional Home's Modern Transformation

Join us as we share the journey of a recent project, where we enhanced this elegant traditional home into a captivating oasis through innovative lighting solutions.

Visitors approach the home’s picturesque entrance via a bridge over a dry creek bed under a lush canopy of trees. As night falls, a fire pit in the backyard, overlooking the pool, comes to life. The surrounding trees are elegantly uplit from both sides, ensuring their beauty can be appreciated from anywhere on property.

We think the subtle touches set this project apart. Our string lights, designed to blend seamlessly with the tree line, remain concealed, creating a cozy and enchanting atmosphere. Step lights, recessed under stones, offer safe passage without glaring into your eyes as you enjoy a dip in the pool.

Of course, every project has its share of challenges. In this case, the main hurdles were the existing trees at the poolside seating area. Pouring concrete piers for the bistro light’s poles proved to be tricky as we prioritized preserving the root system of these mature trees. As always, collaboration with subcontractors was crucial to this delicate process.

Furthermore, we tackled the complex task of running underground electrical connections to each tree, so our landscape lighting design seamlessly integrated into the home’s smart lighting control system. We even used an air spade to trench through the tree’s root zone without severing vital roots root systems.

The end result is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, where the beauty of tradition meets the brilliance of modern lighting.
